Tracking down and defeating Celosia, the eleventh colossus in Shadow of the Colossus, presents a unique tactical challenge due to its aggressive behavior and smaller size. Unlike the massive giants encountered earlier in the journey, this beast relies on swift charging attacks and unrelenting pressure in a tight arena. Navigating this encounter requires a clear understanding of environmental mechanics and precise timing to break through its protective armor.
Locating the Temple of Celosia
To reach the eleventh colossus, travel north from the Shrine of Worship across the natural stone bridge and follow the massive aqueduct structure. Keep following the ravine until you reach a path leading down into a canyon with a dried-up lake bed. Cross the canyon floor to find a temple built directly into the cliffside, where entering the main chamber triggers the battle.
Exploiting Celosia’s Fear of Fire
Once inside the temple, immediately climb onto one of the raised braziers to avoid Celosia's relentless ramming attacks. When the colossus rams the pillar, a lit wooden stick will fall to the floor. Jump down, pick up the stick, and relight it using the fire from the brazier to turn the beast's aggression against itself.
Shattering the Armor Ledge Strategy
Hold the burning torch toward Celosia to force the creature to back away slowly toward the cliff edge outside the temple room. Push the colossus off the ledge, causing it to fall down the cliffside and shatter its back armor. Once its vulnerable spot is exposed, quickly jump down onto its back while it is stunned to begin landing sword attacks.
Delivering the Final Stabs Efficiently
Latching onto Celosia can be tricky because the boss thrashes around violently to shake Wander off. Focus on short, rapid stabs rather than fully charging your attacks to maximize damage before getting thrown. If you lose your grip, climb back up a nearby pillar or ledge to set up another jump onto its exposed weak point until the battle is won.
